Getting started

From signing up to publishing your first guide, the whole process takes about 15 minutes. The hardest part is connecting your bank account through Stripe Connect — everything else is filling forms.

The 4 steps

1. Sign up

Download the StayLocalX app on iOS or Android, tap Sign up, choose Property owner, enter your email and pick a password. You'll get a confirmation email — click the link to verify.

2. Connect your bank account through Stripe

On your owner dashboard, tap Connect bank account. You'll be sent to Stripe's secure onboarding flow where you enter:

  • Your full legal name (or company name if you operate as a business)
  • Date of birth and ID details
  • Bank account details (IBAN if you're in the EU)
  • Address

This is required so we can pay you. Stripe holds these details — we only see whether the connection succeeded.

Individual or business?

When Stripe asks, choose Individual if you rent your property as a private person, or Business / Company if you operate as a registered company or autónomo. Both are fully supported.

3. Complete your tax information on the web

After Stripe onboarding, you'll be redirected to staylocalx.com/en/owner/billing-info where you fill in:

  • Account type (individual or business)
  • Tax ID if you're a business (CIF, NIF, EIN, etc.)
  • Full address
  • The self-billing mandate checkbox

Until you complete this form, your earnings are held and not paid out. The form takes 2 minutes. Read the self-billing page first if you're unsure what the mandate means.

4. Publish your guide

Back in the app, fill in your property details: name, location, photos, WiFi, check-in instructions, local tips. Toggle Publish when ready. Your guide gets a unique QR code you can print and place in the apartment.

When can I start earning?

As soon as your guide is published and a local business books one of your ad slots. You earn 70% of the monthly slot fee. Read How you earn for the full breakdown.

Common issues

Stripe rejected my onboarding

Usually because the ID document didn't match the name you entered, or the bank account holder name doesn't match. Re-do the onboarding from your dashboard with corrected info.

I'm in a country Stripe doesn't support

Stripe Connect supports most of EU + UK + US + Canada + Australia. If your country isn't on the list, contact hello@staylocalx.com.
